The unfortunate issue here is that the art world, like everything else, is a commodities market. Either you kiss their elite asses and become somewhat successful or you tell them to go screw themselves and starve.Have you met these people? Half the gallery owners are rich wives looking for something to do Screw creating a legacy, go for the money.I frankly don't give a damn what people think when I am dead.Wyeth told the elite to go screw themselves and he did just fine

Actually, Kostabi does paint his own paintings, again: You folks are only familiar with his self-created '80s myth of being just a factory owner. He was an excellent draughtsman as a teenager and a consummate Painter---you have to look at his early works, from 1982 and before, when he was painting 14-16 hours a day. That he later hired assistants to help is no big deal: Rembrandt did this, all of the Old Masters did.
