I once saw old Taj in New Orleans back in the Sixties. There were about 7500 people there. He was in a great mood, played a couple of tunes, then some idiot hollered out something he apparently didn't like just as he was about to play again. I saw an annoyed look pass across his face, he rushed thru that song, stood up, said "It's been fun," and left after about 8 or 10 minutes onstage. I've hated the guy who heckled him ever since. Hope Taj developed a thicker skin, too or learned how to deal.

You're not bourgeois just because you end up with a little cash(especially if you're a musician, since musicians and artists don't get rich through exploitation). Taj still has the right to sing this song because the instutional racism is still there. Were you listening to Rush Limbaugh with the other ear while you wrote your posts?

Funny how many people are just dying to become bourgeois as soon as they get the chance, but then, hell, why wouldn't you? On the other hand, hard to say exactly what the term meant to Leadbetter at the time.
