The mother didn't work hard enough when it counted the most, and yes depending on how hard you work in America DOES reflect directly onto your success, it's a fact. Barack Obama is a fine example of this. Depending on the case, the mother may have made some poor life choices and looked at crossroads in her life with poor judgment.

No, she was born into it. How about a single mother who works two jobs to support her children but can barely afford a house? Is she not working hard enough?
