Of course it never occurred to you that they may not know that know that Barber was gay, and that this could be the reason why they accepted to perform his work. Moreover, despite the fact that you are pro gay, i am sure you are enjoying the music even though it sung by by people who are anti gay.

This music is exalted in the extreme.What is interesting to me, though, is that Mormons, who hate homos so bad they can taste it, are singing, and with great reverence, mind you, a work by a homo. Yes, Sam Barber was a homo. Queer as a 3 dollar bill. I happen to know this from first hand experience. So was Tchaikovsky. How is it all of the sign posts of American culture are gay? The Nutcracker Ballet, Gay? OMG, Where are my smelling salts. What an awful dilemna! ;0P

the one thing I didn't like is, the fact that the resolution came early on, but it was almost just for fun, that he puts it as a climax!

I agree. Too many concentrations on individual voices. This piece is not about individual voices but about the solemnity of the music.
