The way Hearns keeps his range is fukkin AWSOME. More fighters today should study the older Heroes...

not one single shot was pipino able to land, he was scared and did not have very good boxing skills, or stratergy versus a taller man. Its a shame to see him like this. Why would he wanna fight in detroit, being the champion he could've chosen anywhere else but there.

En esta pelea se vio que el pipino cuevas no sabia Boxear; quizo salir a "boxearle" a tommy hearns y desafortunadamente lo mandaron a la lona.

can you imagine if Thomas hearns hit Amir Khan right on the chin?

Cueves couldn't do anything. Hearns leaned back and then would land those fast punches. All Cueves could do is backup and try to avoid punches.. But Hearns was too fast. How special it was to have guys like Cueves,Hearns,Leonard,Benitez and Duran in the same division. And out of all of those guys, Duran and Hearns fought all of them.. although Duran lost to 3 out of the 4, Hearns only lost to one of the 4..

Hearns really was an incredible fighter. Cueves is swinging bombs and all Hearns is doing is leaning back to avoid them and regrouping to start his jab and land the right hand. Hearns is making it looks easy leaning back when Cueves loads up. Anyone else would have been nailed with that punch. Cueves was great at this time, so thing how great Haerns was then? Hearns was so great. I doubt we will see this quality again with power in the welt. division again in boxing.

A star was born that night with the most devastating right hand that the sport of boxing has, or will ever see!

Dude you obviously don't know anything about boxing. Cuevas should be a Hall of Famer! He heald the WBA welterweight tittle for 4 YEARS!! It took another HOF in the "Hitman" to finally end his title reign. Pipino weak? Your loco.
revdavidmoore (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
Absolutely!!! De La Hoya, Margarito, Mayweather, Mosley, etc. you name 'em in this era, none of these guys could take a Tommy Hearns right hand! His right should have a wing in the Hall of Fame by itself! |
