First segment of the second episonde.Hollywood's take on California surfing culture is introduced to mainstream America via the most popular nighttime drama on TV. Starring Richard Chamberlain as Dr. Kildare and a truly awesome Yvette Mimieux as the epileptic surfer who could not keep away from the ocean. This two part show was the blockbuster of the day. She was born in Los Angeles, California to a French father and Mexican mother, Carmen Montemayor"Mimieux appeared in a 1964 episode of Dr. Kildare entitled "Tyger Tyger" that proved one of the most memorable of the series, and was one of the highest rated shows of the year. She played an epileptic surfer girl whom Dr. Kildare falls in love with. She is forced to choose between abandoning surfing or risking death by following her passion despite the risk of having a seizure in the ocean."George Richard Chamberlain (born March 31, 1934) is an American actor of stage and screen who became a teen idol in the title role of the television show Dr. Kildare (1961-1966).

What a terrific treat to see this entire episode. My heartfelt thanks to you! Now, if somebody out there wants to make my "year"...I would love to see another Dr. Kildare episode entitled "Solomon's Choice" or something like that. It was about 2 women; one who didn't want her baby, and the other who couldn't have a child. Barbara Baxter was the actress who couldn't have children. I remember it was very powerfully acted, very dramatic, and quite poignant. |
