at the drive in was a great band but i think that the mars volta is amazing...the mars volta wouldnt have been what it is if they hadnt broke up into two different bands. i like the sparta album wiretrap scars but not so much porcelein(sp).

i know you guys are going to hate me and everything, and its been said before but this is a comment section and i just have to say it: AT THE DRIVE IN WAS A GREAT BAND WITH POTENTIAL...THE MARS VOLTA ARE SIMPLY SUPER AMAZING MUSICIANS WHO ARE DEFINING PROG ROCK FOR THIS ERA... BUT SPARTA SIMPLY SUCKS, THEY SUCK AS HELL I HATE THEIR MUSIC, I HATE WHO JIM SINGS, IT SOUNDS HORRIBLE, IT SUCKS, AND IT SUCKS LIKE HELL...THEY SOUND LIKE TAKING BACK SUNDAY (AND I PREFER THOSE GUYS) THEY SIMPLY SUCK!!!!!

first of all i know it was bad grammar - but i don't really care =], and secondly that wasnt aimed at you. And you did refer to sparta as being at the extreme end of pop, and don't say you didn't. But i get your point anyway =]

first of all.. "ur a fag"... good grammer and really mature discussion. (insert sarcasm)Secondly... I said that Jim has mostly had a pop rock style which has ranged from post-punk "Sparta" to folk-alternative-rock in "Sleepercar". Also Relationship of Command is genious and i'm glad they ended when they did to make room for these execellent bands!Cheers.

... this isnt pop lol. i wont disagree if you consider their later stuff, but this is far from pop, and carrots, ur a fag. atdi awesome. mars volta. ONE amazing album (guess which one), rest i dont partic care for. and this sparta album is good,imo the others arent but o well.

I pretty well agree with you. Jim's vocals were amazing in comparison with Cedric's. ATDI were just one of those really unique punk bands like Refused, Fugazi and North of America. ATDI had and amazing experimental side to them Cedric, Omar) and an amazing pop element to them (Jim, Paul and Tony) When they split they went to extremes of pop and experimental. TMV and Sparta.
