Lee Marvin and James Coburn were no slacks with the "pure menace" look themselves...

Let's not forget Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez, AKA Eli Wallach even though he fiqures prominently in a very minor film from the series... : )

I have seen an infinite amount of western movies since the Spaghetti westerns but they have no equal. This scene, with incredible acting and haunting music has no equal. And even though Eastwood and Van Cleef are excellent, we cannot over look the fact that Gian Maria Volonte is also beyond superb in his role. These three actors are legends that will never be duplicated, nor will the movie.Leone and Morricone just pure genius.

Lee Van Cleef had one of the greatest bad guy faces of all time. He looked like a predatory falcon in human form. Only Jack Palance could match the pure menance of Van Cleef's cold stare. Anyone out there remember his first film appearance in 'High Noon' way back around 1952?

While a great film in its own right, I think TGTBTU gets some extra traction due to its attention grabbing and catchy title. FAFDM does it for me, it weaves a mixture of everything throughout- it's gritty, graphic, poignant, humorous, brutal, and compelling. The 3 lead actors portray an amazing level of coolness and toughness.Blend all that with Leone's sweeping cinemaphotography and Morricone's incredible musical score, it all adds up to an amazing achievement in the history of westerns.
