The Lady referenced in Obamas' speech was Ann Cooper-Nixon. A lady whom he has met while campaigning in the Atlanta area.

Why can't you just enjoy the song for what it is. A song about someones Granny. I'm a black man and don't see what it has to do with the president or his color, get a grip people!!!

Needed said, that's all! It's not like you're saying anything that's not an accepted fact! (Kind of felt sorry for Obama's mother as no one seemed to want to ackowledge her, maybe because she's white!)

I love this song!!! I first heard it in 1993 when my great aunt died. It helped alot! Thanks for posting!

Why the hell are people talking about Obama and the presidency on this persons song. The comments are suppose to be about the song or something, not who is what color and so forth. You can educate dumb but you can't fix stupid.

with that said I hope the history books get it right, we now have the first multiracial ie. Black and/or African/White President...and please Black people don't take this personally and please White people don't get offended.... ;-) PEACE!Begin reading the first Bronzeee48 post then the second and read this one last..

I'm not ashamed of either side. Stop allowing what the White man said years ago about having any Black in you makes you Black don't get me wrong not ashamed of being black, just tired of the white man running things...and tired of America allowing his ridiculous statements to be passed on to future generations,

For the last time Barack Obama is Multiracial. He's not Black nor White, he's a man that happens to have a African Father and a White Mother which if you do the "math" makes him 1/2 African, 1/2 White. I'm a Multiracial person myself and I would never allow anyone not even the U.S. to dictate who I am, and throw me in "their" category.

I think she may be the best, purest voice alive these days! She can break my heart at will!
