Graphic novelist Harvey Pekar is interviewed at the Heights Library on Lee Road in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, about his memories of Coventry Road, where he lived during the 70s and 80s. Coventry Road has a storied history that was known beyond Cleveland city limits. From its beginnings as a Jewish neighborhood, on through its heyday in the 60s, Coventry remains a vibrant part of Cleveland, as does Mr. Pekar himself.

This is my old hood. It's a shame that Coventry is so uninteresting now.

I am surprised about that! I wonder if they could have sold out...the edition I mentioned above was a Vertigo publication.

I went to my local comicbook shop and they said that Vertigo isn't printing anymore issues of American Splendor, which really upset me. I enjoy his comics portraying the everydays mundaities of life.

I'm liking this. This is what people will look back at 100 years from now when they want to know the little nooks and crannies about NE Ohio /Cleveland history. Thanks for putting this together and posting!

What I meant was, I enjoyed the series of interviews however, the dead silence and the display of the credits/(graphics) near the ending was distracting. I would prefer to see the credits one time, at the very end of part 6.

Too many graphics interruptions near the endings.

FYI, the latest Pekar novel just came out June 4th (American Splendor - Season 2, 2008 #3) and he mentions doing the Coventry interview at the library.

Love the commentary. Makes me miss home as I'm stuck down here in the dirty south.

I agree! I grew up on this street and it was nothing like this. Seriously.
