They didn't need to ruin Lazar. He did that himself, years before. That's a matter of public record.His past means he could never have got vetted for top-secret work; so he never was in the UFO engineering business... so there's no need to ruin his credibility.While a tintoil hatted conspiracy nut might say that Bob's school records have been destroyed, that doesn't explain the total lack of classmates who remember him studying nuclear physics. (Which, incidentally, he doesn't understand.)

It's not just that he lied about his qualifications. He's also spent time in jail for setting up a brothel. (Specifically, a six month sentence for 'pandering'.) Plus he's deliberately entered into bad debts, and declared bankrupt once.You can't trust him at all.

Nothing personal, I think Bob was there, but not the major scientist that he says he was. I know a little about how these things operate, and Bob is maybe 30% right. Area 51 has too much traffic to have something like this there, so a place like S-4 makes sense. Area 19 makes even more sense. Remember, Bob was younger then, as it was almost 20 years ago.

Yes, good point. People also have to remember that they can also predict the future and possibly move through time. They have no need for space and to dominate and expand as we do. Also we realize how little control we really have. There is a plan to the Universe and it is neither good nor bad and very little deviation from that can occur. Our souls are immortal, our bodies are transitory. All these stories of invasion make for great drama though.
