How can we feel as parents,in our communication? That`s what just coming to me after looking this great video.Yes our children live in their own world ,a world in their world.Sometimes one can feel like being on an other planet, but how do our children feel? It`ll stay always who knows and hope that they still can say what they want to say,but can they?May God bless all those who help in the real sense of the word.......

Derry- Thanks for this- how did you manage to control your epilepsy? How old were you when you had that level of fits and which types were they, duration etc? Do you have autism, or just epilepsy?

When my Epilepsy had reached it's severest stages (up to 2/3 seizures per day) I lost all memory of my past and language or awareness. Looking at your child is like looking at myself during the late 90's. I believe in self willingness and hope for i eventually was cured and have since retained my memory. I wish ye the best and hope your son stays happy.

One main brain area from which epilepsy occur is the hippocampus, which is thought to be related to memory, but more long term memory as well as internal device that integrate physiological (internal) and behavioral (external) information to guide behavior. The hippocampus is tightly linked to the amygdale (emotion) and cerebral cortex. One can expect that with hippocampal damage, there will be epileptic as well as autistic behavioral tendencies.

There are many individuals living with epilepsy who have otherwise no problem with cognition or memory. There others who have epilepsy and are also affected cognitively in various ways. It is however unclear if epilepsy is a consequence of a cognitive brain dysfunction or a cause. For my son, I feel that epilepsy was caused by some brain dysfunction related to inappropriate activation of his immune system, that immune activation also caused his autism. But I don't know. |
