I fucking love this song. Leave it to Jethro Tull to give you music that is far from mainstream, music that can actually help you escape this world when you need to! And they sold 60 million albums! More than most mainstream bands! Imagine how many they would have sold if they were mainstream instead.

it is a fife...

yea you're right. I was mistaken.I had wrong lyrics on the side i looked them up. Just looked in the songbook. It actually is fife. Sorry :)The instrument Ian is playing is though a tin whistle (as in the title of the song)

no, it is "fife" not pipe... and a drum to play....
Agrajag21 (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
"I have a pipe and a drum to play"are the correct lyrics ,-)I dunno what question you were answering but I suppose it's about that instrument Ian is playing, right? It's a Tin Whistle often found in the irish folk scene.

Too true, modern music is SHITE.Rap is Crap, RnB is NOT Rythmn and Blues anymore!!You get " girl bands / boy bands" there not bands, they dont play fucking instruments, there a bunch of lip syncs!Whos with me to complain to the music industry for music to be put into the proper category, ie : RNB MUST be Rythmn and Blues, Rock must be rock, not POP like Mcfly etc?Let me know, lets try and put music where it should belong!!

I Think it's a fife. He even speaks about it in the song. "I have a fife, and a drum to play."
