2:43 onwards would be perfect for a certain film scene.

I agree, the quam olim abrahae is my favourite part... The best version that I have heard so far is the Herreweghe version, Christie and Gardiner being very good as well, and Marriner too. Do not like Davis, Bohm, Karajan so much, and I cant remember Harnoncourt's version. I have a Solti version and it is quite powerful, but it is a live recording...

I agree, a properly performed version of Quam olim Abrahae is the most dramatic and striking part of the Requiem and probably my favourite section. By way of a heads up, although it's the cheapest one out there (and I must have about 15 other CD's of this work), I favour the Naxos Slovak Phil over all of the other recording for this section.Phenomenal section and believed to be the last part of the Requiem that Mozart composed himself, the rest being finished by Suessmayer.

I sang this last year with my high school chorus. Lacrymosa and Dies Irae are probably the two most well-known movements but in my opinion, abrahae is the most moving part of the requiem.

I was thinking the same thing! During Mufasa's death, I think. |
