Hi JakeJBlues. The point is to point out that 2 Italian film have been confused, both scored by the incredible Ennio Morricone. 'Novecento' is indeed Tim Roth's character, but he was called 'Nineteen Hundred' in the English version and the title is 'The Legend of 1900' but in concert programmes, it's given slightly confusingly as 'Legend of 900', which doesn't make sense in English. A film called 'Novecento' (as it is known) which can mean 'Twentieth Century' is Bertolucci's. Tutto chiaro?

"1900", really "Novecento" (the italian abbreviation for "1900", that is " '900", typed "Novecento"), is the theatre monologue by Alessandro Baricco that inspired the movie.By the way, on the originally version of the movie, Tim Roth is "Novecento", not "Millenovecento", that would be the litterally translation of "1900", so the title, in english, might be "Legend of 900", not "Legend of 1900" (also on the theatre monologue the pianist is Novecento, cause '900 is the new century...)

As has been said some time back, this is part of the long opening piece accompanying Giuseppe Tornatore's 'LEGEND OF 1900', this being the English title, which gets confused (as here) with '1900' the political epic directed by Bernardo Bertolucci in the mid-70s.Both scores are masterworks and how outrageous that neither received an Oscar nomination. If anyone like this, you really should obtain the original, preferably extended 'LA LEGGENDA DEL PIANISTA SULL'OCEANO' ~ virtuoso piano pieces.
