The anger peaked when brother Noel said he wished that Blurs Damon Albarn and Alex James would catch AIDS and die. Then came the Battle of Britpop, when both bands released singles on the same day. Blur won. Their single Country House outsold Oasis Roll With It by 58,000 copies.
